Facebook Adds New 'Voice' Option for Users

I can almost without-a-doubt guess one thing you’ve done this morning; something that many (millions, in fact) consider more important than brushing their teeth, eating breakfast, or even showering – logging onto their Facebook (News - Alert) to absorb all of the latest updates, photos, and more from their “closest” friends (a.k.a. the average 450 person network the average FB account holds). Additionally, things seem to be changing with the site’s development nearly every day.
First it was the integration of an AIM-like instant messaging system, and then the addition of a sidebar containing a constant news feed so we could enjoy an added level of immediacy. Now when you log onto Facebook, keep your eyes peeled for a link between those of your profile and home page, because it’s there you’ll see this: “Voice.”
This latest addition to the rapidly evolving, monstrous media site is not what you may think, though. Where some may automatically think, “Yes! Now I can ‘like’ everything just by talking to my computer!” then you’re sadly mistaken, as this new voice setting was developed with the intention of allowing page owners to decide whether they want to be the voice of their page or the voice of their profile when doing such Facebook-related tasks as liking, posting, and commenting on the page wall.
Additionally, this only applies to users who are logged into their personal Facebook account. While posting to your Facebook page hasn’t really changed much since its release almost a decade ago, it was found to be a very drawn-out and irritating process. The new Facebook voice setting works by keeping users informed of who he or she is representing when people visit their page, thus making the process of switching from one to another instantly easier.
While many page managers are opting to make administrators’ activity default to the page’s voice, this new setting permits admins to override this default setting at any time.
The question now on peoples’ minds is: Is this add-on a handy new tool which will make handling the site simpler, or just another un-necessary means of further complicating its use? I suppose only time will tell.
